Alice + Olivia Spring 2014 Show
January 23, 2014
Alice + Olivia is one of my favorite brands for the spring. Their already easily wearable clothes are pastel and pretty to begin with, and make a perfect combination with the warmer weather. Here are some highlights from the show and how to incorporate them into your closet!
Boxy and plain could sum up just about all the looks from the show. Similar to the boxy "boyish" look as seen in the Balenciaga Spring show, this could be a hit trend for this season.
Along with sharp cut skirts, cropped sweaters or jackets kept the short skirts from looking too summery. Something light and pretty like the jackets from the show will go well for the spring when it's still too cold to just wear a tee.
Overall the show had a very 1920's feel to it. The beautiful dresses shown were long and drapey, with lace and shimmer; perfect for that spring gala or a party at Gatsby's in Manhattan. The entire show stayed with a pale color palette, of roses and sheer blues, and then the occasional highlight piece which featured the red, black and cream (as seen in the skirt in the second section of pictures). I think the idea of the clothes and pairing of items was sweet, but a bit safe for springtime shows. The red, black, cream look is interesting for the spring, but would be cute when paired with a plain top.
Try out these items for your collection-to get the look without breaking the bank!
